Casting

To facilitate the growth of its members, The Actors' Circle comes together in partnership with Tygr Productions to create our own work. Every six to eight weeks, we shoot a short film in one day. These projects are film labs - a learning set where actors are able to ask questions and test their skills.

    2. Organize a craft service area.
  2. Contact on the day of the shoot
    1. Be available for anybody that needs to call the set, as we will have people coming and going for different shifts.  Be ready to give lost people directions.  Call if somebody who is scheduled does not show up.

  3. Runs to store if we need something we can’t live without.

Camera Assistant:

  1. Keeps track of shot list.

    1. Knows which shots have been completed and which shots still need to get done.

    2. Keeps a log of each shot, each take, and time code for each take, and whether the take was good or bad.

  2. Will run the slate.
  3. Makes sure that camera batteries are put on charger when switched out.
  4. Makes sure that new tapes are labeled properly and match with the log.

Script Supervisor/Continuity:

  1. In charge of the only script onset

    1. Available if anybody has a question about the script onset.

    2. Makes sure that no lines are skipped during a take.  Notify director of such AFTER cut.
  2. Will keep track of all motion the actors make and when they make it for each take AND Make sure that the actors match that motion for each take.
    1. Take digital pictures so things can be referenced and recreated exactly (digital camera provided).

                                                               i.  Pictures of each actor in wardrobe and make-up.

ii.   Picture of set after cut of each take

Sound/Boom Operators:

  1. Will hold/position the wireless mic to pick up ambient sounds and dialogue.

    1. The mic is not a professional shot gun, nor do we have a boom pole.  It is an omni directional wireless handheld, but it will work for our purposes.
  2. Listens through headphones and lets the director know if the sound captured has good levels, or if there was a sound that was not wanted during the take.

Grips:

  1. Carries equipment.

  2. Sets up lights and stands per direction by director.

  3. Since we don’t have professional grip equipment, sometimes will need to be creative and use what is available to makeshift an additional stand, or to hook a light someplace, or a flag, etc.
  4. Hold bounce cards or reflectors or flags for lighting actors.

Make-up and Wardrobe:

  1. Consult with the Director on Wardrobe and Make-up

    1. Wardrobe usually comes from actors' closets. But may need to look for special items.
  2. Apply make-up prior to shoot.
  3. Be available during shoot to reapply make-up as necessary.   Reapplied before each take, after lunch break, etc. Make-up needs to MATCH what you did originally for the entire shoot.
